It's Date Night Saturday

A date night with my husband always makes my heart smile. We always make plans to go to the movies, and NEVER end up going because we are exhausted from the day, but David said we need to make sure we have date night as often as we can and make time for just the two of us every now and then. He said we were going to make it a point that WE GO to the movies next time! We decided to go out to eat at Cheddars and had a great dinner and we actually got to talk about alot of things that we other wise wouldn't talk about. Then it was off to buy some new shoes and then we decided to buy a movie and go home and snuggled up in bed and watch it just the two of us.

Either way, it doesn’t matter because the purpose of date night is to spend quiet, quality time alone together without the stress of everyday parenting. But I think it's safe to say that just about every couple needs time to reconnect as adults. It doesn't have to be "date night" out on the town -- home on the couch works too.

I think date night is vital in keeping a relationship going. And by relationship, I mean ROMANTIC relationship. If you don't make the investment in spending time with each other and having fun, then it is very hard to keep the romantic aspect of our marriage going! I also think dating each other reduces the number of arguments you have because when you start to see each other just as the other person responsible for keeping the household running and the kids alive, you can become bitter. By not dating your spouse, you don't just lose your relationship, you lose the parts of you that are romantic and the parts of your existence that have nothing to do with raising children. How does any marriage survive without date nights!?
